Busy over the last few days... OR Notice a decline in sales due to the Sunday Valentine's day....
Valentine's Day 2010
How did your business fare? Did the suburban suburbs flourish at the expense of the city florists? I know growing up in city florists that a weekend Valentine's Day does impeach on profits. However, the day seems to get bigger and bigger each year. Some of my local florists had queues out the door.
Frankly, some areas did well, others varied but overall the day is 30% down across the board. Were you an exception? Let us know. One compensating factor is the lack of stress. The day can actually be a trading pleasure if you didn't overpay too much for roses and the quality was good.
How did you fare?

Flowers Victoria executive officer Ian Blyth said although the loss was devastating for the Koelewyns, it would not affect supply too heavily.
He estimates more than 100,000 bunches of roses would be sold on Valentine's Day.
"It is our biggest day of the year by far and there are a lot of big producers that are geared up especially for that one day," he said.
"Others will step in to fill the orders."
Prices won't be affected, but romance will come at a cost on February 14.
Suitors can expect to pay about $45 for a bunch of red roses and $25 for a bunch of other coloured roses.
Those who really want to impress can spend more than $50 for a single stem of a specially nurtured, high-quality rose.
