Currently,I am a Qualified practising Counsellor with a part time home
practise. Recently returning from a year in Germany, I decided to
explore other career potentials based on my passions and personal
interests. In February of this year I began my Certificate 3 in
Commercial Floristry studying with Loraine Harrell at the Australian
School of Floristry at Southport.
Upon leaving secondary school I studied at the popular Design and Arts
College of New Zealand exploring my creative side after receiving
high marks and commendations in Art. Painting has continued to be a
passion of mine throughout my life and brings originality to my
developing Floristry style. A love of nature led me to study
horticulture to deepen my knowledge of the plant world. A fascination
with the healing elements of plants and flowers has influenced me
from a young age and I have worked part time in retail pharmacy and
health positions providing health advice as a vitamins and herbal
medicine consultant for many years. In retrospect, pursuing a
Floristry Career is not so surprising and combines a lot of elements
I really enjoy.
I have a special interest in Corporate and Events Floristry and like to
work with large pieces and interesting, bold colours and concepts.
This is not what we study at Floristry school initially but I look
forward to having the knowledge to be able pull those kinds of pieces
together to create a striking and beautiful experience. My Floristry
heroes who inspire me and create the work I love are Saskia Havekes -
'Grandiflora', Sydney and local Florists 'Flowers of the World' in
Southbank, Brisbane (originally trained in Holland) and Ronald Tate -
'Tates Florist' at Kallangur, who utilises naturally occurring
mathematical sequences to create flow and proportion/similar to Feng
Shui painting.
To conclude, I can offer focus and a strong, mature work ethic. A
natural flair and creative enthusiasm, flexible working hours as I
set my own schedule. Also exceptional communication and people skills
from years of retail and Counselling experience, coupled with a
strong desire to share the natural beauty of flowers and natural
media with people to create a positive, joyous and beautiful
environment. I intend to learn and apply Floristry skills as an art
form to the highest degree possible that I can achieve.
Please post to discuss any positions with me personally and I will supply
contact details.
Hello all, I am currently working my way through a Cert 3 in Commercial Floristry. I would like to volunteer to any florists on the Gold Coast who would like a helping hand as a way of gathering experience in floristry and getting to know the industry to make myself more employable in the long run. If you are interested in supporting the next generation of florists to become exceptional at what they do, have a look at my profile and consider me as a helper or even better as an employed assistant :) I have a special interest in events floristry and corporate floristry. Cheers, Cacey
