Just wondering if anyone has any good tips on the best way to look for florist positions. There doesn't seem to be a lot being advertised, so I am thinking about going from shop to shop. Do I just take my resume? Is this worthwhile? What should I be asking and doing? Is it acceptable to email my resume, or should I visit every florist in person?
I have never had to go looking for work before! Your help would be most appreciated :)

Definately visit in person, hit every shop you can and if you have no luck go back to them all again after a couple of months. It also helps if you have some photo's of your work.

Do you have much experience as a florist? What area are you in?

It really is a tricky profession to get a start in, most areas have at least 1 too many shops so each shop can't afford a lot of staff.

Just keep plugging away.

I do have to agree. The best way to be known is to approach as many florists as you can. You may want to ring them first to see if there is an appropriate time to introduce yourself and show off as many photos of your work. Some florists maybe busy, and may not have the time to sit and chat with you. Over the years most of my jobs were face to face introduction and leaving a resume and examples of my work. Keep on trying and don't get disheartened if you get a few knock backs. Best of luck....
