This is the most important Element of the Four Elements, for without COLOUR or White LIght the other Three Elements of FORM, VOID and TEXTURE would not exist. You would not be able to see them. Of ALL the ELEMENTS. Colour is my pet Subject because without COLOUR NOT ONE or ANY of the ELEMENTS and PRINCIPLES would exist. There would not be LIFE on this Planet.

WHITE LIGHT

COLOUR  is                                         and Light is LIFE.  White Light is the sum total of the 3 Primary Colours of RED, GREEN, BLUE (RGB) and the 3 Secondary colours of  MAGENTA, CYAN, YELLOW of the Spectrum of Colour. There are no other basic Colours. All other Colours seen by the human eye are an ADDITION or SUBTRACTION of a combination of these six natural colours.  White Light results from the mix of these 6 colours and Black is the absence of light or the absence of ALL of these colours. Therefore WHITE and BLACK are not regarded as Colours.

Here is an interesting fact. Mix all the paint Colours together and BLACK is the result. But mix all the Colours of the Light spectrum and the result is Pure White Light. This is the reason why a Flower Arrangement becomes brighter as you add more colour to your creation.

Maybe you are confused as I was in the teachings of the Colour Wheel in Floristry.  No florist is able to truthfully use that Colour Theory and in fact I never taught that in my classes. Florists cannot change the colours of Nature like a paint artist or a printer (except for the dreaded graffiti spray can)  but can do so by using their eye as the palette and in identifying the Scale of Intensity of the Individual Flower Colours to change the effect of their creation.I tried to change the Colour Theory in the Florist Curriculum when I was involved in setting up the training colleges, but was not successful and I believe the Florist Industry training is probably the only one still wrongfully using the Colour Wheel.
Your first exercise:  Black is NOT a Colour. It does not reflect any light so you cannot see these letters you are reading. Explain how you are getting the message.

The information above is just a starter to give some thought to. I hope it helps.

Add a splash of Colour to you Life with Flowers, it will BRIGHTEN YOUR DAY. You are worth it.
