First of all I want to thank you all about the beautiful comunity you create here.. I read this forum for some weeks and was very useful.

I have a lot of experience as a florist and flower-shop owner in Europe and Asia. I want to make a new business in Australia since I have relocated here recently - and here is the question: to have a display fridge in the client area is not common in Europe (the fridge have to stay in the back) but in Singapore for example, all the flowers are in the fridge and the clients are choosing directly from there.

How is in Australia? My clients will be unhappy to see flowers in the fridge.. especially now whenthe summer is coming to Melbourne. ..

thank you.

There are many options for this. In a prevous florist that we ran the cool room was part of the window display. It was a full glass fridge. Looked great, customers often did not relise that it was a fridge.

Hi Olimpia,

I don't think it really matters, and my customers certainly don't get upset because we keep most of the flowers in the fridge (we are in QLD where it is almost necessary to store things like Roses, Tulips, Iris, Lilies etc in the cool so they don't open too quickly) It depends on the space you have in the shop and your clientelle I suppose. Some have all cut flowers on display (usually on a round table in centre of shop) and nothing made up ready to buy, some only have ready to buy on display, others have both. Whatever you choose to do, just make sure what you do have on display is clean, tidy, accessible and inviting. ;)

Cheers,
Annette
