Dear all,

Event Creations Logo

We have just created a second web page for our buiness event creations. We currently have www.eventcreations.com.au but have just uploaded www.chaircovercreations.com.au. Does your business have two. We thought in terms of online marketing it could be better, twice as many ways of people to find us?

What are you thoughts?

Chaircovercreations.com.au  Have a look tell us what you think? It was a 10 hour web page but we think it is good. (needs a little more work)

I think it's quite a clever marketing move - I think the simplicity of the websites and clarity of information is what appeals

My only concern is the chance of it causing confusion among (potential) customers? We run the same risk as our business is listed under numerous names in the Yellow Pages - a trick I've noticed is quite common as I know of only one other Florist that shares our Suburb name, yet there is up to 14 listings !

It's a smart strategy, given the way Google ranks pages in its search engines. It ranks them based on how many other pages link back to any given page that has the search term you used. Some companies set up hundreds of pages all with the same data in it and link back to their main home page, all in the name of boosting their position in Google searches.

So, if you have two web-pages, be sure to link back to the one you really want people to see. It's also probably a smart thing to use your business URL in your e-mail signature, your forum signature and anywhere else you post online. It can only help move you closer to the top of the search engine results. It seems to me that there are already a few florists already doing it - multiple pages with only the locations changed. Very often, to locations where they don't even have a shop! It's lucrative to receive the orders online and forward them using a relay service and oh, what a can of worms that is!

There's an interesting interview with the owner of an American website called "FlowersFast" that raises some of the pros and cons of online marketing for florists. (Read here: catfight!)

Here's the link to the article: http://www.intuitive.com/blog/inside_the_ftd_florist_business_with_flowersfast.html

By way of a glossary, I believe FTD is an American relay service, like an Interflora equivalent.

Cheers,
Anna.

I think that Alex has a great point it could confuse some however, using the same branding eg logo's and some images, most people will pickup that it is the same company. In Australia you business name must be in your URL and therefore it is sometimes worth buying more than one business name. ($70 each from memory) Than you can purchase URL's that maybe your competitors want. (You don't have to purchase hosting and therefore to hold a URL only costs $12 a year.)

Online Marketing...fun.

Maybe market your top clients to your www.eventcreations.com.au web page and then the brides with less of a budge to www.chaircovercreations.com.au. Tell google to do that so that you are not branding yourselves to one market only.

Tell us how you go.

I think two is a great idea for marketing but I am not sure what you customers think.
